Vancouver WA Bench Warrants
Vancouver bench warrants are court orders issued when a person fails to appear in court or skips a step in a Clark County criminal or traffic case. The City of Vancouver is the seat of Clark County in southwest Washington, just across the river from Portland. Most local cases run through the Clark County District Court system, with felony filings going to the Clark County Superior Court. You can look up an active bench warrant or outstanding warrant in Vancouver by name through the state data warehouse, the Clark County courts site, and the city violations bureau page.
Vancouver Bench Warrants and Local Courts
Vancouver does not run a stand alone municipal court for full criminal cases. Most local cases run through the Clark County Superior Court for felonies and the Clark County District Court for misdemeanors and traffic. The judge can issue a bench warrant under CrR 2.2 or CrRLJ 2.2 when a person fails to appear. The warrant stays active until the person is picked up, posts bail, or asks the court to quash it.
The City of Vancouver runs a violations bureau for parking and basic infraction matters. The page is at cityofvancouver.us/ced/page/paying-or-appealing. The violations bureau handles ticket payment and appeal info, but criminal warrants are not in this system.

Clark County Court Resources
Clark County is the host for most Vancouver area court records. Felony warrants live in the superior court file. Misdemeanor warrants live in the district court file. The county clerk feeds case data into the state portals. You can also visit the Clark County bench warrants page for the county side.
The Washington Courts directory lists every Clark County court with phone, address, and clerk hours. Use it to find the right court if you need to call about a warrant.
Note: Most Vancouver criminal warrants live in the Clark County District Court file system, not in a Vancouver city court file.
For the broader Odyssey portal you can use odysseyportal.courts.wa.gov for Clark area courts that use the Odyssey case system.
Quashing a Vancouver Bench Warrant
If a Vancouver bench warrant comes back in your name, do not wait. Most warrants can be cleared. The first step is to call a lawyer or the Clark County Bar lawyer referral. Then file a motion to quash with the court that issued the warrant.
The motion asks the judge to recall the warrant and reset the case for a new hearing date. The state forms page on courts.wa.gov/forms has the standard motions to quash a warrant or set new bail.
Visit the state forms page for the standard quash motion and other warrant related forms.
The forms page holds the standard motions used to clear a Vancouver bench warrant.
Bring photo ID when you visit the clerk. The court will not let you sign in without one.
DOC and State Warrant Search
Some Vancouver area warrants are run by the Washington Department of Corrections. The DOC handles people on community custody who broke the rules of their release under RCW 9.94A.716, which you can read at apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw. The DOC posts each name with photo and charge.
Start at the DOC warrant search. You can also see the wanted and absconder list. Both tools update on a set schedule.
The DOC tool is the main starting point for Vancouver area community custody warrants.
The DOC warrant search shows Vancouver area people with active community custody warrants.
Note: Always call 911 or Vancouver police if you spot a wanted person; never try to detain or confront them on your own.
Vancouver Public Records Requests
The City of Vancouver runs a public records request page at cityofvancouver.us/government/public-records-request. You can submit a request online, by mail, by fax, in person, or verbally. The records officer will memorialize the request.
The city charges $0.15 per black and white copy and $0.52 for an 8.5 by 11 color copy. Mail postage is at actual cost. Police records have their own page at the police records division. The city may ask for up to a 10 percent deposit on large requests.
For court records you must go to the right court, not the city. Clark County District Court holds the misdemeanor case files. Clark County Superior Court holds the felony files. The court directory is at courts.wa.gov/court_dir if you need to find the right office.
Public Access in Vancouver
Most Vancouver court records are public under GR 31 and the Public Records Act in RCW 42.56. Bench warrant data is part of the case file, so most of it is open. Sealed cases and juvenile warrants do not show up in the public tools.
You can search for a Vancouver bench warrant without giving a reason. For more on the Public Records Act you can read RCW 42.56 on the legislature site. The clerk can tell you if a file is sealed.
