Felony bench warrants come from the Superior Court under CrR 2.2. The District Court signs misdemeanor and traffic bench warrants under CrRLJ 2.2. Most warrants begin with a no-show at a hearing. The judge signs the warrant from the bench, and the clerk logs it into the case file. Once active, the warrant flows to the sheriff's records desk and into the state warrant database.

Sheriff and Warrant Service in Chelan County

The Chelan County Sheriff serves bench warrants. Deputies pull active warrants from the court and load them into the sheriff's records system. Felony warrants enter the state and federal NCIC databases and are valid statewide. Misdemeanor warrants from District Court may be local only.

City of Wenatchee, Cashmere, Leavenworth, and Chelan police also serve and book on bench warrants in city limits. Once arrested, the person is held at the Chelan County Regional Justice Center and brought before a judge for bail review and a quash hearing.
